Coach Pete was born and raised in Kern County. He went to college at Bakersfield College, where he played football, before moving on to California State University of Bakersfield. Soon after CSUB, Coach Pete became a police officer in our community. After several years of unhealthy habits and midnight shifts, he found himself overweight and out of shape. At one point Coach Pete weighed 300 pounds, but he soon found Crossfit. Coach Pete has lost 75 lbs and continues to love and appreciate the life-altering change CrossFit has made in his life. Coach Pete has two young sons and uses them, as well as his career in law enforcement, to motivate himself to stay in shape. After using CrossFit to change his own life, Coach Pete found a passion for coaching and hopes to help many others incorporate healthy changes into their own lives. Coach Pete has been actively coaching CrossFit classes for the past three years and possesses a CrossFit Gymnastics certification.
Josh was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA for most of his life and has had a passion for health and fitness for many years. When starting nursing school in 2012, he found his enthusiasm and love for CrossFit and its principles. After earning his Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Josh obtained his CFL1 in 2015 and then his CFL2 in 2021. He has been coaching for over 3 years and has truly found his passion in teaching others. He is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals and sharing the importance of diet and exercise as the main foundation of health and wellness.
Cassidy Sugimoto was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. She earned an athletic scholarship to play softball for Penn State where she completed her BS in Kinesiology. Cassidy inked her name in the record book at Penn State culminating with D1 First Team All American honors. After Penn State she was invited to the national team tryouts and played professionally in Italy. Upon her return from Italy she was a strength and conditioning coach at LSU. Here she was in charge of training the athletes for Men’s and Women’s Tennis as well as assisting with other sports. During her time at LSU she earned her MS in Kinesiology, became certified as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.), and certified as an Olympic weightlifting coach (USAW). Cassidy also holds a Level 1 Nutrition Coaching Certificate from Precision Nutrition. This is the sixth year that she has been involved in CrossFit and has recently completed her CFL1.
As part owner of CrossFit Trajectory she strives to help others reach their fitness goals. Along with being an owner/coach she also teaches physical education where she helps young students develop a passion in health and fitness.
Garett Sugimoto moved to Bakersfield in 2012 and found CrossFit shortly after. He began coaching athletes at local CrossFit gyms after receiving his CFL1 in 2014 and later received his CrossFit Football certification. He has degrees in biology and forensic science and completed numerous courses in exercise/sports studies during his formal education. He has a passion for knowledge and teaching which he puts to use to ensure that members get the most out of their experience at CrossFit Trajectory in hopes that they can set their fitness goals high and achieve them. Garett earned his CrossFIt L-2 certificate in July of 2019.
Ben Warren was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. He grew up as a soccer player and extreme sport enthusiast. Ben received a Bachelor’s degree from Cal State Bakersfield University in the area of Kinesiology and then went on to get his teaching credential and Masters degree in Special Education. Ben has been serving as a Special Education Teacher and Varsity Soccer Coach in Bakersfield for more than ten years.
Ben has been participating in CrossFit since 2015 and he loves the daily competition as well as the quest for continual progression. He completed his CFL1 certification course in 2022. Ben loves sharing his love for athletics and fitness with everyone that he meets. While he loves improving his lifting and fitness capacity his real fitness goal is to be able to play sports and stay active with his family for as long as he possibly can.
David Zimmerman was born and raised just over the hill in Lancaster. He moved to Bakersfield in 2014 and shortly after the move began coaching CrossFit. David has two degrees in Chemistry, and works in the field of forensics for his career. In 2012, before even beginning CrossFit, David was introduced to Dr. Kelly Starrett of MobilityWOD and was struck by the movement bug. He is passionate about analyzing movement patterns and trying to optimize performance around movement. David earned his CrossFit L-2 certificate in July of 2019.
